A small guide on how to find and tame phoenix on scorched earth. For this guide you will need a gene scanner, a parasaur, a fire wyvern (or really good flamethrower) and good ghillie/desert cloth.
- Once loaded onto scorched earth you will use your gene scanner and select phoenix on the search menu.
- Once you have the phoenix locked onto the gene scanner you will need to mount your fire wyvern and pick up your parasaur. Make sure the parasaur is in turret mode.
- fly towards the direction of the phoenix until your scanner goes red, and your parasaur alerts you to an 'enemy' underground. This is the phoenix, you cannot see it since it is not currently a superheat.
- Next you will need to build a simple trap around the phoenix, around the red marker produced by your parasaur. Make sure the trap is 4 walls high mininum and has a roof.
- The part that makes phoenix taming super tedious and luck based, waiting for the superheatwave, this may take hours, or if you're luck not too long. A jerboa will help you listen for the signs.
- once the phoenix spawns in you will have limited time to tame, between 10 - 20 minutes until the heatwave goes away. This is where you will use the fire wyverns breath to torch it (do not bite it). It is best to use an ingame scorched wyvern as they can turn their heads and aim their breath attack, i reconmend using a wyvern with high stamina and high damage.
- After a few minutes of torching the poor phoenix it will be tamed; or if you are unlucky enough not to tame it within the time limit it will turn back into an ash pile but will retain its taming bar until the next heatwave.
- (optional) once the phoenix is tamed you can quickly cryo and pull out the genescanner to quickly locate another phoenix and potentially tame 2 within the time limit. 2 birds 1 stone, or fire wyvern in this case!
